DF Conservation blends a passion for perfection with tasteful restraint in its Antique Furniture Refinishing of period and contemporary furniture, woodwork, and wooden architectural objects. Attention to detail and a respect for the integrity of a piece during the restoration process allow us to retain its original nature as much as possible.
Before we begin Refinishing Antique Furniture, we first must determine the extent of work that needs to be done, which may include:
- Keeping the existing finish: Cleaning and waxing to give it a rejuvinated look.
- Touching up to the existing finish to renew damaged/worn areas.
- Completely Refinish: Removing the old finish and applying a new one.
Removing the old finish and applying a new one is a complex process that is not recommended for amateurs. A Professional Antique Furniture Restorer needs to be correctly identify the type of wood, determine the chemical solvents needed to strip a finish, and then apply colors and finishes to the wood.
Call us at 718-381-3548 if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment. We're located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn just outside of New York City. |
